PCB Soil Remediation
Eagle performed the remediation of a former transformer processing facility which was contaminated with PCBs. Initially, Eagle demolished concrete over the contaminated areas. Concrete was stockpiled for sampling and subsequent transportation and disposal. Eagle excavated several areas where the contamination was identified and segregated the waste into stockpiles where it was analyzed. Several of the excavation areas passed through utility corridors creating hazards for the excavation. Eagle utilized an air mover truck and air knives to remove the contaminated soil surrounding the utilities.
Once the analytical results confirmed the disposal method Eagle transported the waste to the appropriate landfill. Due to the location of the site in proximity to the landfill soils with higher levels of PCBs were transported to a TSCA landfill for disposal. At the completion of the project Eagle successfully removed, transported and disposed of approximately 4,300 cubic yards of soil. Eagle backfilled the excavations to match the surrounding grades and covered the site in caliche. All work was performed on schedule and without any incidents.
